Persistence
The amount
of time that you continually have an auto insurance
policy in effect. It doesn't matter if you change
companies as long as you have no gap, break, or lapse
in your coverage when switching.
Some top companies
will give you their best rate when you maintain your
persistence. Never call an insurance company for a
quotation on the day your current policy expires.
All policies start and end at 12:01AM on whatever
day they start or end. That is the first minute of
that day. It will be too late to maintain your persistence
and you could pay up to fifty percent more.
Never cancel
an existing policy until you have a new replacement
policy in your hand, no matter how unhappy you may
be with your current auto insurance carrier. You will
not be paying for two policies at the same time because
your current insurance company is mandated by law
to prorate and refund any money that you have paid
in advance, and they have to prorate your refund from
the date your new policy started.
Don't forget
that liability insurance is required by law, and maintaining
your persistence will help you save money on your
car insurance.
